Jared Casey, E.I.

Associate Engineer

“The scientist does not aim at an immediate result… our work is like that of the planter – for the future. Our duty is to lay the foundation for those who are to come and point the way.”

  • Nikola Tesla

This quote from Tesla resonates deeply with me—especially within the energy industry. The climate crisis is one of the defining challenges of our time, and confronting it requires long-term thinking, innovation, and collective effort. Progress will not happen overnight, nor will it come from any single individual. Those of us in the energy industry work with the understanding that we may never fully witness the ultimate impact of our efforts, yet we continue forward knowing that we are helping build a more sustainable and prosperous future for generations to come.

I have always aspired not only to contribute to that mission, but to lead within it. The energy industry provides the ideal intersection of technical problem-solving, strategic thinking, and human connection—allowing me to apply my analytical abilities, interpersonal skills, and creativity toward meaningful change. The opportunity to pursue that purpose alongside a company like Michaels Energy made my career path an easy decision.

Jared graduated from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in May of 2023. While at UNH, he made lifelong friends with whom he helped to form the UNH Energy Club (UNHEC), which seeks to connect students with the energy industry.

Jared joined Michaels in June of 2023 as an Associate Engineer with the Research and Evaluation team. After a year performing site visits across the United States for market assessments, potential studies, and building stock assessments, Jared partially transitioned to the programs department to assist with the implementation of energy efficiency projects along the eastern seaboard.

In 2024, Jared was a recipient of the Association of Energy Service Professionals (AESP) Emerging Professional Scholarship and attended the Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas.

His attendance at the Annual conference sparked his involvement in AESP, where he began serving as a co-chair of the Emerging Professionals’ Special Interest Group in early 2025. In his co-chair role, Jared assisted in forming a networking and professional development community for newcomers to the energy industry within AESP. Later that same year, Jared earned his Engineering Intern (E.I.) certification in Delaware, and is pursuing P.E. licensure.

In 2026, Jared was selected to co-present at ACEEE Summer Study for his role performing a first-of-its-kind, in-depth research study regarding data center development and its impact on the Pacific Northwest. This same work made Jared a data center subject matter at Michaels Energy and ultimately earned him the role as chair of the Data Center Working Group.

When out-of-office, you can find Jared exploring the world alongside his partner Katie, visiting his family back in Boston, tending to his ever-growing houseplant army, exercising, playing board/card/video games, or on the flag football gridiron.
