Elise Slowinske

Intern

I’ve always been interested in protecting the environment and improving the systems we interact with. I also believe that energy efficiency is one of the most important challenges of my generation. Michaels Energy is the perfect opportunity for me to contribute to real-world projects that benefit both people and the environment!

Elise joined Michaels in May 2026. She primarily works with the Public Schools Carbon Free Assessment Program, conducting site assessments and preparing reports to improve energy efficiency in public schools. Before Michaels, Elise was a water/wastewater engineering intern at HR Green, Inc.

Elise just completed her third year at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she is majoring in Environmental Engineering with a primary focus in Energy and Environmental Sustainability and a minor in Sustainability, Energy, & Environment. She is interested in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and improving energy equality in communities. She participates in multiple university organizations and leads the University of Illinois Concrete Canoe team.

Outside of work, she enjoys reading, crocheting, hiking, and spending time outdoors.
