DeAngela Brooks

Customer Support Representative

“Knowledge is power, but enthusiasm pulls the switch.”

When I was offered a Customer Support work assignment with Aston Carter, I didn’t hesitate to accept the position. Although I needed the job at the time, I felt a deeper calling as well. For me, there was a spiritual connection to the company’s name. I chose to take on this assignment because it aligns with my passion for environmental sustainability and my desire to learn something new while making a positive impact. This opportunity enables me to gain knowledge and contribute to a greener future by helping to reduce energy consumption, lower costs, and encourage others to adopt practices that benefit our environment.

DeAngela joined Michaels Energy in February 2025 as a temporary employee through Aston Carter. In her role as a Customer Support Representative, DeAngela communicates with customers via telephone and email to provide information and assistance related to energy services and rebates. She accesses customer accounts and make notes of her interactions with them.

In her previous position, DeAngela worked as an Administrative Specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cedar Rapids. Her responsibilities included managing customer relationship management systems, specifically related to donor information, pledges, and contributions. After that role, she secured a position at BFHO, Inc. as a Data Entry Processor in a warehouse environment. DeAngela attended the Minnesota School of Business in Richfield, MN, to obtain an associate’s degree in business administration.

In her leisure time, DeAngela likes to embrace the beauty of life by taking peaceful walks through the scenic trails of Ellis Park in Cedar Rapids, where nature’s vibrancy and the calming river sounds rejuvenate her spirit. She is passionate about a range of activities that add color to her life. She says dancing allows her to express herself freely, while singing brings her joy, whether she’s in the car, on a walk, or surrounded by family in joyful gatherings (She likes to say she can sing, but not that well). Additionally, DeAngela values volunteering her time, as she believes it’s important to give back to the community.

DeAngela says crafting and painting ignite her creativity, as each piece she creates reflects her heart and imagination. She says she cherishes the moments spent with her family and grandchildren, whose laughter and energy fill her life with warmth. These precious interactions are the true essence of joy and connection, reminding her of the beauty that surrounds us every day.
