Kodi Gates, she/they/he
Energy Advisor
To me, energy efficiency starts with listening to our clients and learning about our community so we all shape a better future together.
Kodi joined Michaels Energy in February 2026. Ordinarily, a typical day as an energy advisor includes outreach and on-site meetings with facility managers, building owners, and key decision-makers across the state from Roanoke to Virginia Beach and from Petersburg to Alexandria. Additionally, regular check-ins with our internal team members, our engineers, and our external partners happen to identify the best way forward to getting rebates into the hands of Virginia customers.
Before hopping into customer engagement for maximum energy savings, they did sales and customer service for several small businesses, juggled project administration duties and account management for a managed services firm, and worked in post-production for National Geographic Channel and PA’d on several short films. Their bachelor’s degree in film was obtained at Hollins University, where they also earned a certificate in leadership studies from the Batten Leadership Institute.
Among their favorite hobbies are cooking, composting, and volunteering in Richmond, VA. They also have a feisty young cat named Valentine.
